Business Plan Structure and Content

Discover how start-up founders, managers and business leaders structure their business plans during this practical half-day workshop with pioneering entrepreneur Dr Salman Malik.


In this workshop we will discuss:

  • The different types of business plans
  •  How business plans vary according to their purpose i.e. raising equity finance, applying for grants, loans and sales.
  • Using the right content for your target audience.

Participants can expect to leave with a well-rounded insight into 'what a business plan is and why they are used', how to structure the document and the essentials needed in all business plans to successfully communicate a coherent story.


Prepared and delivered by:
Dr Salman Malik is the founder and CEO of Micro Spray Technologies Ltd; a science-driven start-up that aims to revolutionise particle engineering in high-value markets. As well as being an engineer and academic, Salman is an entrepreneur. He has experience of raising funds through private angel investors, government-backed grants, and business plan competitions and has pitched successfully at numerous events for non-dilutive funds. Salman has solely raised more than £350k and was awarded scholarships, travel grants, bursaries and prizes also throughout his time at University. In 2016, Salman was awarded a prestigious Scottish Enterprise (SE)-funded Enterprise Fellowship from the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE); a year-long training program that enables promising science and technology researchers to grow into successful entrepreneurs.
